Chicago's 96 Cougar plays a dynamic blend of punk and garage rock with heavy alt-country and psych influences. At times reminiscent of cowpunk greats like The Gun Club or X, their first full-length album, The Finest Crime, was released on cassette by Already Dead Tapes & Records in May of 2023.
Jimmy created his stage persona 'Jim the Kid' in 2019, after years of steadily working on his craft while based in Chicago. He is currently showcasing his second album “Orange Juice”, which is a mix of fierce garage rock and dreamy synth lines. Along with his backing band "The Painkillers", he is known for his rowdy live shows that are full of dance moves, humor, and theatrics.
