Emerging from Chicago's vibrant musical landscape, The Lost Year is a compelling force in the indie rock genre. With their distinct blend of introspective lyricism, dreamy melodies, and subdued (but at times explosive) energy, this four-piece band captivates audiences with their authentic sound and impassioned performances. Friends and collaborators since college, singer and songwriter Kim Schaefer, guitarist and singer Steven Serra, and bassist and singer Jon Rosenthal were recently joined by drummer Joe Kambic, rounding out the full lineup. Drawing influence from '90s and early '00s rock music, as well as dream pop, folk rock, and a plethora of other styles, The Lost Year's dreamy, emotive music is a kaleidoscope of style, feelings, and textures alike.
