Code of Conduct

We’re committed to being a more inclusive, safe and transparent space. Now that we’re re-open, we are working on crafting a set of policies to publish on this website. If you have any input or perspective please send us an email. We look forward to reimagining bar culture through a social justice lens.

Sexual harassment, personal space

All customers and staff have the right to enjoy this environment without unwelcome attention from strangers. Customers who do not respect boundaries of personal space, or who pay unwelcome attention of any sort to customers / staff will be asked to leave. No refund will be given for unfinished drinks, or tickets. This policy includes all unwanted touch such as, touching hair, moshing, pushing, shoving, or bumping.

On certain occasions we may have to physically remove customers who will not leave on their own accord. We promise to let these customers know when it is time to leave, and allow them an opportunity to leave with dignity in every instance that does not directly jeopardize safety.

If you feel like a member of our staff has violated your personal space, or has sexually harassed you please email coleschicago@gmail.com, or colesbarmorgan@gmail.com

Abusers, “Me Too”

We do not want to be a place or provide a platform for abusers. If you recognize an abuser please let a staff member know discreetly so we can discuss what is the best course of action to protect the victim. If you see that an abuser is booked to play a show, please send an email to any one of our collaborative booking team, so that we can investigate. If there is more than three weeks lead time before the event, and the allegation is credible, we will cancel the event, or find a replacement performer. Please let us know even if it is close to the date of the show, so that we can add the performer to our watch list.

Gender, pronouns, and LGBTQIA inclusivity

We welcome all forms of gender expression. Thanks to the advocacy of our customer, CK, we have a gender neutral bathroom in addition to male and female facilities. If a staff member has misgendered you, please correct us ASAP. If you feel like you have been discriminated against because of your gender or sexuality, please send an email to coleschicago@gmail.com so that we can take appropriate action.

Racial profiling, BLM, use of police

Cole’s is a place that is welcoming of all races, cultures and religions. We are aware of implicit bias and do our best to correct for it. If you feel like you have been discriminated against please send an email to coleschicago@gmail.com and let us know so that we can investigate. We believe that Black Lives Matter and support the defund the police movement. We do not call the police except for in the following situations:
